Pump works great until you need a new impeller, In the instruction manual it says change if you have abnormal vibration< my impeller was chewed up I called the Zoeller and they said that is not a part they carry or have a part number for it! this is a wear part, and they don't have the ability to get one when it wears out.

But they will sell you a new pump I will not buy another ZOELLER pump.

Too good, pumps water out of 18×30 tank in 3 seconds. Needs to pump longer. to get water on down the line before gravity takes over. box beat up when it arrived., seems ok though.

Good price powerful pump. Empties basin in under 4 seconds.

Working well so far. I have owned this pump before and the pump motor has never been the problem. The problem I had time and again is with the activation switch. I was able to request, and received 2 switches on my last sump from the manufacturer.

However, they told me at that time, I wouldnt be able to ask for anymore after that. Im hoping that they replaced an obvious problem switch, for a better one on these newer pumps. What happens is that when the switch fails, it will keep the pump running after all water has been pumped out of the sump hole.

If left running for a long time the pump will burn out. You can lightly tap the switch housing to make the switch release, but it will continue to happen more often until its unusable. I had a very cheap, but popular brand pump when I bought my house, and never had a lick of problems for 16 years.

So I know they can do better on providing a better switch! By the way, a switch is about $60 for this pump, which puts you close to the price of a dependable low cost one. If the switch goes bad, it will be within 1-2 years, which I will be certain to update my review if it craps out.

I finally broke down and purchased one of these pumps. You can find cheaper pumps but they don’t last as long. When this pump fails it is typically the switch that goes bad. You can buy the replacement and the gasket and put the pump back in service.

I now have one of these pumps for each situation needing one. With these parts I put the old pump back together so I new have a spare. These are just great, long lasting, quiet pumps which are repairable.

Worth the price.

Even though I had to increase the pits depth in order to convert from my failing above-ground pump, that bit of work allowed me (a novice) to learn some things and improve the entire wet basement situation that I had been living with.

Solid, cast iron build that operates quietly and evacuates the water astoundingly quickly. It’s only 1/3rd horsepower, but in testing my installation with five gallons of water being dumped into the basin, by the time the last ounce hit the basin, the water was already gone.

I use these pumps for mixed laundry/lavatory/kitchen sewage. I like the fact that they are cast iron, and not all plastic. The warranty is 3 years. They typically last longer than that, but I always replace them at the 3 year interval just to be sure.

In addition to a high quality pump like this, be sure you thoroughly clean the pit/basin before you install it. Most sump pump problems are caused by debris/waste/kitchen grease forming around the float switch and causing it to malfunction.

I installed the pump for as an ejector pump for sewage for an Airbnb about two years ago. Never had any problems till a guest flushed a bath towel down the toilet. It seized the pump up for several days before anyone noticed.

After pumping out all the water and unbinding the stuck towel the pump fired right back up with no noteworthy damage. I will only be buying Zoeller pumps from now on. Highly recommend.

I had a 1/2 hp Wayne ejector pump, and it started acting up. I could flush the toilet 4 times and then it would back up instead of triggering the pump. If I ran the sink or the tub, then the pump eventually triggered.

I found a blog article by Jim from this site. I called him and talked to him about my problem, and he recommended the Zoeller M264. He said that my current pump was over powered for the job it was doing, and all I needed was a.

4 hp pump. Zoeller has an excellent reputation, so I made the purchase. This time, I decided to do the job myself and save several hundred dollars that I have paid plumbers in the past to replace my pumps.

The hardest part of the job was getting the old pump out as my access door requires you to be on your knees, and that Wayne pump was very very heavy. It turns out that the float switch had broken off from the pump, which must be why it did not trigger when it should have.

After disposing of the old pump, installation of the new one was quite easy. After the cleanup, I tried it out, and it is working as designed. A side benefit is that my GFCI circuit, which used to trip frequently, no longer trips due to the smaller pump.

This pump should last a long time. I did the whole job for $179 and my labor.

Our old (previous homeowner bought so who knows how old) Zoeller had a float switch issue so I replaced it with this new one, which works great. Going to keep the old one as a backup since it works perfect aside from the float (could also repair the float switch, but its been sitting in a sump pit so long its fairly gross).

Its a strong pump – its a 10 vertical to a 15 horizontal and its pouring out like a hose. Not the quietest but also depends on your setup.

I had purchased a second Zoeller M98 as a backup then shortly afterward, the primary stopped working just past the 3-year warranty. I contacted the company (correspondence with Nick F. ) who initially asked for detail and, after supplied, never heard from him again.

My secondary M98 then became the primary and I purchased an iON StormPro 3/4 HP as a backup. Now a little more than 3 years again and just out of warranty the Zoeller M98 is once again in need of replacement.

(Based on my research, mine seemed to have capacitor failure so motor will only spin at a very low RPM). To be fair, the pump does get reasonable usage as the water table is only a few feet below my basement floor and heavy rains engage the sump pump.

However, prior, I have had twice the service life out of big box cheap products for 1/3 of the price. I am looking again (probably will be iON again) but the replacement will not be a Zoeller based on their lack of service and price/longevity, I would not recommend.

I’m a DYI’er and this is my first N98 installation that I paired with the LevelGuard Solid State Switch and Zoeller Quiet Check Valve. This N98 replaced a 12 year old M98 Zoeller. Nothing wrong with the M98 but with the thaw coming coupled with Spring rains, I wanted to have no concerns of a switch failure at bad time.

I’m going to replace the M98’s switch and keep that pump in reserve as a ready backup. After 12 years of great performance, it was time for new equipment. Installation went well and the pump now cycles about every 2 hours (slow snow melt near my foundation).

The LevelGuard switch works great as it doesn’t trip until the water level rises to about 8 inches from the top of the sump basin. The pump fires the water out in about 6-7 seconds. This results in the pump cycling VERY infrequently which is a very good thing that lessens wear and tear on the pump.

The Zoeller Quite check valve works great–it fixed the “water hammer” issue I had. no water hammer now. I’ve owned Zoeller pumps for over 30 years. They are the only ones I’ll install either in my own home or at my kid’s homes.

I’ve used Zoeller pumps for decades, never had an “early” failure. They used to last 15 years, now it’s 5-7 years for the 5 year warranty version of this M63. I’ve had the 3 year warranty M53 last 5 years, but I change my pumps very 5 years.

What separates this model M63 Zoeller pump from the less expensive and same HP Zoeller M53 pump is the upgraded float switch, the cast iron impeller and base (The M53 has a plastic impeller and base) and the Polypropylene Float Operated Vertical Float Switch w/ Viton Switch Boot in the M63.

The M53 has a lower grade switch and boot compared to the M63, hence the 3 year warranty for the M53 versus 5 years for his M63 pump. Pro: -5 year warranty -Solid cast iron body, base and impeller. The impeller will not crack or break as easily if it picks up sediment or small stones versus the M53 -Solid polypropylene float -Lighted plug -Stainless hardware, handle and float rod Con: -Zoeller pumps used to last 10-15 years.

Today, they pretty much hit in the warranty specification – 5 to 7 years for this pump. I’ve had M53’s last 5 years. I guess Zoeller makes a lot more money selling pumps this way -Regardless of warranty, ALWAYS have a spare pump ready to go because a warranty is what’s printed on the box, not what can really happen.

-The Achilles heel of any sump pump is the pump switch/float set up. Either the switch wears out or the seal leaks and shorts the switch. I tried the LevelGuard switches and they are also 5 year wonders and they cost and extra $100+.

I just replaced an N53 pump with a LevelGuard switch that lasted 5 years with an N63. I always have a spare M63 plumbed with the glued up 1 1/2 inch outlet pipe ready to attach to the Zoeller back flow valve.

That allows me to remove the gear clamp from the back flow valve and snap in the new pump in 15 minutes in an emergency. I also have a sump alarm hooked into my alarm system that notifies if the water goes above the pump head and a whole house automatic generator so I don’t have to screw with semi-lame and pricey battery back up sumps.

Whenever I change out a sump pump, I print out an installation date label and attach it to the power cord at eye level so can see when its time for a pump change out. It’s important to drill the 3/16″ hole in the outflow pipe just at the head of the pump to prevent fluid lock.

If you DON’T drill that hole, an air pocket can form around the impeller and the pump will run endlessly without pumping any water and the pump will overheat and burn out and risk a flood. Also be SURE to drill the 3/16 hole at a 45 degree angle pointed DOWN into the sump well.

If you drill it at 90 degrees or point it up even a little bit, water will spray all over your cover and onto the floor. This little detail is in the Zoeller install instructions and the part about the 45 degree down angle is buried in a product installation video on their website.

The pump is new revision of the same model of the existing, 16-year old full-lot sump pump, so it will presumably operate just as well. My only regret is not purchasing a replacement check valve at the same time but the old one developed a leak I didn’t notice until after the new pump was installed and working.

I love Zoeller sewage and sump pumps, but the quality control on this one was sadly lacking. The bale handle wouldn’t stay on, which made lifting the pump into the pit problematic. And then I found that the power cord chewed almost in half, right in the middle of the cord.

I’d already installed the pump so I wasn’t going to tear it out, so I will have to wire a plug onto the shortened cord. Zoeller QC needs a bit of prodding, it seems.

I had another Zoeller pump. The 1/2 HP 98-0001. It was a decent pump but my environment is a little special. This pump is outdoors in a sump pit that takes run off as well as french drains from the house and garage.

I do my best to keep small 1/2″ tree cones from getting in but I can’t stop em all. Occasionally and during heavy rains something will get in there and jam the propeller. Then well, chaos happens. I decided to go with a sewage pump to replace the sump pump need being that it deals with 2″ solid.

It stands taller too. Ever since installing it I have had 0 jams and the flow rate is just as goo. 5″ vertical, and 80 horizontal over a slow 5′ grade as well. Great pump.

pump works as intended, pumps out lot of water. For this purchase, box came damaged both outer and inner boxes. few things were bent, so I took pictures and emailed it in. Day later called support. I got prompt and great service.

She took information, release RMA and shipped new unit same day and arrived following day for me to install. I have shopped here before and will continue to do so. Thumbs UP!.

Was easy to find on web site. When pump was delivered. Liked the way pump was well packed. So no damage to pump during shipment. Everything lined up and easy to install. If ever need another gray water pump will order from Zoeller.

Bought a Zoeller model 266 pump to replace a model 267 that may have been originally installed in our 55 year old house. We have lived here over 30 years and never replaced the model 267, but it finally gave in.

Replaced it with the 266 as it was a home owner install (piping, pit, electric already there) and was lighter weight to handle. It is working great. And the quick service from Supply House was much appreciated!.

This is used in my lift station for my mound system. Like the prompt shipping from Supply House. They are always great. My biggest complaint is these pumps don’t last like they did. The first one lasted 13 years, the last 2 less than 5 years.

Don’t think they build them like they did. Have heard several complaints from friends that say the same thing. Just don’t know if there is a good replacement out there, that is why I put the same thing in.

When we put in a new sewer system 16 years ago this pump was recommended by our supplier. It lasted 16 years without flaw so I ordered another just like it. It comes with a float type shut-off and a great value I believe.

Fairly light weight and comes with good instructions. Only thing I would do differently would be to purchase the stand that is made for it rather than setting it on a cement block riser because small debris collects on the flat surface.

That’s not the pump’s fault. I received poor advice when I originally installed it. I haven’t trouble shot the original one yet but I suspect it was destroyed by a close-by lightning strike so I plan to drive a rod and double-ground it at the site.

I installed this pump to service a basement pit that serves as both a sump pit and a laundry run-off (effluent) pit. Because of the dual nature of the requirements and the fact that I live on a pretty high water table, this pump ends up being used daily.

I’ve had it in place for 6 months now and I haven’t had a single issue with it. It is able to keep up with regular laundry use and all of the nasty rain storms that we get in my part of the country(Chicago-area).

The sister pump to this one, the M98, is also very nice; but I prefer the ability to use the piggy-back float with this BN98 model. I actually use mine with a Basement Watchdog float, instead of the one that comes with the BN98.

but that’s only because I already had that float installed in the pit 🙂 I would recommend this for anyone looking for a solid 1/2hsp pump to meet any sort of sump or effluent needs.

Having groundwater coming in to a corner of our basement, I was looking for something that worked in a similar manner to what a shop-vac would. We have Zoeller pumps in 3 sump pits in our basement, and they are bullet proof and never fail.

Once I was able to prime this pump, it did a great job of getting the floor almost completely dry and pulled almost all water off the floor. This pump doesn’t have a float, so once the water has been removed it won’t work again without starting the process over again.

I have no idea who makes a pump that would have a switch or float that would pull “floor water” as it comes in, but this isn’t the pump for that.

This sump pump worked great. Saved my back porch from flooding. Water hose hook up fitting is perfect.

I bought the pump for flushing my tankless water heater. It worked as expected and I appreciated the quiet operation. I would recommend this pump for this application. The pump is made in Taiwan.

The Zoeller N98 with the electronic Hydro-check proximity switch is a winning combination for my needs. The on cycle has a very wide adjustment range and allows the pit to fill to a much higher level before activating the pump.

Fewer on cycles should lengthen overall pump life. The 1/2 HP pump is more than adequate to drain the pit quickly avoiding potential overrun. It is quiet and powerful. I am pleased with my choice and highly recommend it for similar applications.
